Ways I Can Unite My Community

We all want to make a difference!  We all want to be part of something important, and to have the deeds we leave behind be meaningful.  If you are anything like us, you have been watching the disintegration of public trust, and have wondered what can you do?  How can you get involved?  I mean, you and I are just single individuals!  How can WE alter the course of the current and growing animosity in our nation?

Here is an interesting fact for you:  Did you know that a million ants can lift more weight than can a single elephant!  Okay, so the actual math works out to 1.2 million ants, but you get the idea!  The point is that you don’t have to be an elephant.  In fact, it isn’t even the elephants who have the most lasting impact on history.  It is the ants who change the world!  Regular people like you and I who say that enough is enough, and who stand up for what we believe.

The part that you and I play may be small, but when a lot of us are doing it, the effects add up.  Following are a few suggestions for things you can do to help unite our communities back together:

  1. Be A Uniter
Above all else, be a uniter yourself!  Show intellectual honesty, kindness, and empathy towards others.  Be part of the solution, and not part of the problem.  When you hear others speaking the language of the dividers, recognize it for what it is, and stand above it.  See the goodness in your neighbors, and celebrate and validate their sincerity.
  2. Free Classes And Articles
Learn as much as you can about all perspectives and points of view.  Strive to extend grace and the benefit of the doubt to others.  You may already have a strong grasp on the goodness of those on the other side of the political divide.  But we can always benefit from more compassion and understanding!  Seek to keep your suspicions and mistrust in check!
  3. Make Your Feelings Known
You have more influence than you realize!  All 1.2 million of us ants can combine to lift even the heaviest burdens that are working to bring our communities apart.  Gently and kindly make your feelings known on social media and in other places.  Tell your family and friends how much you value and celebrate all perspectives.  Share your understanding with them of how we all contribute to keeping everyone balanced.
  4. Please consider sending your friends to this website
We have created a number of resources designed to help your friends and family to realize the importance of uniting.  Again, this includes articles, free classes, and so forth.  Please consider sharing links to our articles and classes in your social media news feeds!
